X-Mode makes rough terrain easier
Subaru X-Mode gives you the confidence to take on new terrain that’s waiting to be discovered. Tackle snow, gravel or dirt by engaging X-Mode at the touch of a button on the infotainment screen. This intelligent electronic system enhances off-road driving by adjusting traction to suit the conditions, helping you safely and confidently arrive at your destination. X-Mode operates at low speeds - below 40km/h - when activated, the display screen shows the mode selected, roll angle and pitch angle. All Subaru Outback variants are equipped with two selectable modes based on the driving conditions - 'SNOW & DIRT' or 'DEEP SNOW & MUD'.
Towing with a Subaru Outback
With Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-Mode, coupled with your choice of either Subaru's famous 2.5-litre Boxer engine and 2,000kg* braked towing capacity, or the 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer Engine with impressive 2,400kg* braked towing capacity, the Outback is ready to take you there. The Subaru Outback AWD Touring XT featured is towing a Jayco Swan Outback, which is a great family size camper trailer, with an average Aggregate Trailer Mass of just over 1,800kg. Safety Systems Subaru Driver Monitoring System*
Watching out for you, this innovative system monitors the driver’s face for signs of fatigue or distraction and provides both audible and visual warning. It's also clever enough to recognise the faces of up to five registered drivers, automatically syncing each driver’s personal settings - including air con, seat position, and door mirror angles.
Safety Designs Subaru Global Platform
Safety starts with an improved chassis and a body frame reinforced to increase frontal, side and rear crash safety. Designated crumple zones are designed to direct impact energy away from the reinforced passenger safety cell, while SRS* airbags – including dual front, dual front side, dual curtain, driver's knee, and front passenger seat cushion are designed to protect occupants. The Boxer engine sits low in the engine bay and is designed to help protect occupants by sliding below the cabin - not into it - in the event of a severe frontal collision.
